The St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center celebrates St. Johnsbury’s rich historic legacy by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting local artifacts. Visit us and explore the exhibits in our House and Carriage Barn at 421 Summer Street.

St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center’s primary focus is to preserve these valuable collections while promoting history education. The Center’s educational vision is to inspire an appreciation of St. Johnsbury’s history and traditions and to build a historical foundation and understanding our collective past for our community’s future.

The Center takes its place among the many educational and cultural institutions of St. Johnsbury to partner in the preservation and interpretation of this community’s historic character and all it stands for.

The vision of the St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center is to provide a stimulating environment for the citizens of the community and the state of Vermont in order to celebrate and enrich St. Johnsbury’s history.

By engaging people of all ages, the Center builds the foundation of its beliefs and objectives on the importance of preserving history, teaching history, exhibiting history and instilling history for generations to come.

The St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center exhibits historic collections and conducts educational programs that portray the town's rich history.

During the fall and winter seasons, we are open Monday-Wednesday, 10a.m. to 4p.m. During the spring and summer seasons, we are open Monday-Saturday, 10a.m. to 4p.m. This season, depending on availability, during most Saturdays we are open until 1p.m.
